Couple who had spent 71 years together died on the same day, with a gap of 12 hours between their passings

In a heartwarming story of lifelong love, a couple who had been married for 71 years recently passed away on the same day, only 12 hours apart. Herbert and Frances, who met in a cafe when he was 22 and she was 16, had a love story that captured the hearts of many.

In a 2019 interview with WDRW, the couple shared their story of how they met. Herbert had noticed Frances coming in and out of the White Way Cafe where she worked, and finally worked up the courage to ask her out on a date. They dated for a year before Herbert proposed and Frances said yes.

Their wedding almost didn’t happen because they were an hour late to the church. According to Francis, Herbert was always late. But they made it, and their marriage lasted for over seven decades.

Herbert’s obituary revealed that he served in the United States Army for 22 years as a master sergeant, serving in World War II, Korea, and Vietnam. Frances even lived in Germany for six years to be close to her husband during World War II.

The couple’s enduring love and commitment to each other, which lasted through many challenges and hardships, has left a lasting impact on their family, friends, and community. Though they are no longer with us, their love story will continue to inspire and touch the hearts of many for years to come.
